VOLUNTEERS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
The Miracle League of Valdosta is a non-profit organization led completely by volunteers. Volunteer opportunities include Coaches, Buddies, and Umpires. Just a few of hours of volunteer service during the season makes a life-time of difference to an athlete. All volunteers are asked to attend training on their position prior to the start of the season. Volunteer opportunities are listed below. |
Coach DescriptionCoaches help to organize the play of game for the athletes. Coaches ensure athletes wear proper safety gear and take the precautions to ensure safe play. Coaches set the line-up and maintain a pace of play by helping athletes moving from the dugout to home plate. They also ensure athletes are aware of game days and times and important days such as team photo and celebration.

Buddy DescriptionBuddies are assigned to work one-on-one with the athletes to help assist with the play of game. This could include helping to bat/kick the ball, round the bases, get into their field position, field the ball, and throw the ball depending on the abilities of the athlete. Most importantly, Buddies help keep our players safe on the field.
|
Umpire DescriptionUmpires manage the game and create the fun behind home plate. Traditional calls such as "batter up" and "safe" are encouraged to keep athletes connected to the experience. They decide when an athlete needs a tee or other adaptive equipment. Umpires also help setup the field equipment and pick up the equipment at the end of the night.
